Purpose and Vision
The mission of the 4SiM project is to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial practice by developing a digital learning environment that uses artificial intelligence and simulation to enhance experiential learning. Through the combination of case-based and problem-based learning, 4SiM supports educators in teaching complex socio-technical systems that define modern manufacturing.
Our vision is to create an open, adaptive, and scalable educational ecosystem that helps students, researchers, and professionals understand how technology, people, and management interact in the context of Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. By integrating real industrial data, digital twins, and AI assistants, the project aims to promote sustainable and human-centered production systems.
Strategic Approach
- Innovation in learning: Combining AI, simulation, and real-world case studies to increase motivation and engagement.
- Capacity building: Strengthening cooperation between universities and enterprises through co-creation of learning materials.
- Open education: Providing openly available tools, datasets, and methods for wider use in higher education and industry training.
- Sustainability and inclusion: Ensuring green, digital, and accessible learning practices in all project activities.
Long-Term Impact
4SiM contributes to the modernization of European higher education by offering a model for AI-supported experiential learning. The platform enables future engineers and managers to develop systemic thinking, digital competence, and ethical awareness—key skills for sustainable and resilient manufacturing in Europe.
